StarCentral Magazine celebrated its 21st anniversary in memorable fashion in Santa Cruz, Laguna, during the inaugural Philippine International Fashion Festival. The milestone event highlighted a unique collaboration among the media, fashion, tourism, and local community sectors, placing the municipality firmly in the spotlight as an emerging fashion and cultural destination.

The anniversary celebration showcased a partnership between StarCentral Magazine and several organisations within the Philippine fashion and tourism sectors. Key collaborators included the Santa Cruz Tourism Office and the Laguna Designers Elite Group, both of which contributed to the festival’s success.

The event was spearheaded by StarCentral Magazine in collaboration with Eman Reccio, president of the Fil-Oz Entertainment Collective, and Rexerizza Boongaling, Municipal Tourism Officer of Santa Cruz, Laguna. Their joint effort resulted in an event that celebrated fashion while also highlighting tourism, local creativity, and international cultural collaboration.

Motorcade Kicks Off Festivities

Festivities began with a colourful motorcade through Santa Cruz, setting the tone for the day’s celebration. StarCentral’s International Ambassadors — Emmy, Taisha, Grace, Zara, Milan, Avayiah, and Reeha — joined the procession with police escorts accompanying the convoy throughout the route. The motorcade began at Metro Central Mall before travelling through Sambat Bubukal, the Laguna State Polytechnic University, Bagumbayan, Calios and Santa Cruz Bridge. The convoy then continued along Burgos Street and proceeded to A. Regidor Street towards the Municipal Hall of Santa Cruz before returning to Metro Central Mall. Residents lined the streets during the motorcade, waving and greeting the ambassadors and organisers as they passed. The reception highlighted the strong community support for the event and reflected the festive atmosphere throughout the municipality.

At approximately 2:45 pm, a press conference was held featuring StarCentral’s International Ambassadors alongside officers from FEC. Members of the local media were invited to ask questions about the festival, the magazine’s 21-year journey, and the broader vision behind the international fashion initiative.

Runway Show Begins

StarCentral’s International Ambassadors then made their first runway appearance wearing pieces from the RRJ apparel collection. Their confident runway walk showcased contemporary fashion styles while energising the crowd gathered at Metro Central Mall.

One of the event’s highlights was the official unveiling of the April 2026 issue of StarCentral Magazine. The issue features StarCentral’s International Ambassadors — Emmy, Taisha, Grace, Zara, Milan, Avayiah, and Reeha — on the cover. As the ambassadors walked down the runway holding the newly released magazine, the moment symbolised both the publication’s 21-year journey and its continued commitment to nurturing international talent and youth representation.

Designers Showcase Laguna Talent

The runway segment continued with showcases from several designers representing Santa Cruz and the wider Laguna fashion community. Each ambassador represented a designer, bringing their creative vision to life. The designers from the Laguna Designers Elite Group who contributed to the showcase included Jeffrey Tope, Erl Justine Talucod, Hubert M. Umali, Jaime Angelo Abenio, Jessycris Baduel, Jessica Dolorso Labindao, Jomari De Leon, Leo Laraño, Mark Francis Pacion and Richard D. Roque.

The runway presentation highlighted the craftsmanship and creativity of Laguna’s fashion industry, demonstrating the region’s growing influence in the Philippine fashion landscape.

A Celebration of Fashion and Community

StarCentral Magazine’s 21st anniversary celebration proved to be more than just a fashion showcase. Through the Philippine International Fashion Festival, organizers were able to bring together fashion professionals, community leaders, and tourism advocates to promote Santa Cruz as a destination for creative and cultural events. The collaboration between StarCentral Magazine, the Fil-Oz Entertainment Collective and the Santa Cruz Tourism Office played a key role in making the festival possible.

As StarCentral Magazine marks more than two decades in the industry, the event signals a continued commitment to innovation, international engagement and the promotion of emerging talent.

Teresa Palmer Leads Red Carpet at Sydney Premiere of Addition

Actress Teresa Palmer joined director Marcelle Lunam and author Toni Jordan at Westpac OpenAir in Sydney on Tuesday night for the Australian premiere of Addition, a romantic comedy adapted from Jordan’s bestselling novel.

The event, held on Tuesday, 20 January 2026, drew a crowd of film industry figures and invited guests, with the open-air cinema overlooking Sydney Harbour providing the backdrop for the film’s local debut.

Palmer stars as Grace Lisa Vandenburg, a woman whose life is shaped by numbers. The character counts everyday details — from letters in her name to poppy seeds on a slice of orange cake — believing numbers bring order and stability. According to the film’s storyline, Grace’s structured world begins to shift after she meets Seamus, played by Joe Dempsie, leading her to reassess her carefully controlled routine.

The film is directed by Marcelle Lunam, who worked closely with Jordan to bring the story from page to screen. Lunam said the adaptation aimed to retain the themes that made the novel popular with readers while translating them into a cinematic format accessible to a broad audience.

Author Toni Jordan attended the premiere to support the film, marking the first time her novel has been adapted for the screen. Jordan’s book has been widely read in Australia and internationally, and the film follows its central themes of self-acceptance, love, and personal growth.

Palmer, who has recently appeared in productions including Mix Tape and The Fall Guy, greeted fans and posed for photographs on the red carpet ahead of the screening. The cast and creative team spoke briefly with the media before taking their seats for the premiere.

Westpac OpenAir, known for hosting major film events during Sydney’s summer season, once again served as the venue for the Australian launch of a high-profile local and international release.

Addition explores how unexpected relationships can challenge long-held beliefs and routines. The film’s narrative follows Grace as she learns to navigate change and uncertainty, underscoring that not all aspects of life can be measured or controlled.

The Australian premiere marks the beginning of the film’s local release, with Addition set to screen in cinemas nationwide. Further international screenings are expected to follow in the coming months.

Big Laughs, Bigger Heart: Shrek The Musical Hits the Stage This Summer

Audiences across Australia will soon be invited to step into the wonderfully chaotic world of Far Far Away as Shrek The Musical arrives in Sydney and regional centres as part of a major summer tour. Based on the Academy Award-winning DreamWorks film, the stage adaptation reimagines the much-loved story as a colourful, high-energy production that blends comedy, music, and heartfelt storytelling into a family-friendly theatrical event.

From its opening moments, Shrek The Musical establishes itself as a production that embraces spectacle. Oversized sets, inventive staging, and intricately designed costumes transform the theatre into a fairytale universe where ogres, talking donkeys, and banished storybook characters coexist. Backed by a dynamic musical score and sharp comedic timing, the show delivers an experience that is both visually striking and emotionally engaging.

The story centres on Shrek, an unlikely hero who has chosen isolation over acceptance, content to live alone in his swamp. His carefully ordered life is disrupted when a group of displaced fairytale characters is forced onto his land after being exiled by the authoritarian Lord Farquaad. Frustrated but determined, Shrek agrees to undertake a dangerous mission on Farquaad’s behalf: rescue Princess Fiona from a tower guarded by a fire-breathing dragon. In return, Shrek’s swamp will be restored to him.

Accompanied by Donkey — a fast-talking, endlessly loyal companion — Shrek’s journey quickly evolves into something far greater than a simple rescue mission. Along the way, the musical explores themes of friendship, vulnerability, and self-worth, revealing layers of complexity beneath its playful exterior. Princess Fiona, far from the traditional fairytale princess, challenges expectations and becomes a central force in the story’s emotional arc.

Performed by a cast of 16 professional artists, Shrek The Musical delivers Broadway-calibre performances that combine powerful vocals, polished choreography, and expressive acting. The ensemble plays a wide range of iconic characters, from Pinocchio and the Three Little Pigs to an array of familiar fairytale figures, each adding their own personality and humour to the production. Supporting the cast is a crew of more than 20 professionals working behind the scenes to deliver seamless technical execution and immersive stagecraft.

One of the production’s strengths lies in its ability to balance comedy with sincerity. While the show is packed with laugh-out-loud moments and visual gags, it never loses sight of its core message: that belonging comes from embracing who you truly are. In a theatrical landscape often dominated by polished heroes and predictable narratives, Shrek The Musical stands out for its celebration of imperfection and individuality.

The production touring Australia was originally created for the London West End, bringing with it multi-million-dollar production values, breathtaking lighting design, and meticulously handcrafted costumes. Each element works together to create a world that feels both fantastical and grounded, allowing audiences to fully immerse themselves in the story. The scale of the show ensures that every performance feels like a major event, while still retaining the warmth and accessibility that make it suitable for younger viewers.

Produced by Showcase Entertainment Group, the team behind successful family favourites such as Madagascar The Musical and The Cat in the Hat, Shrek The Musical has enjoyed a strong international reception. The production has toured extensively across the United States, United Kingdom, Asia and New Zealand, with seasons staged in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Dubai. Its global success highlights the enduring appeal of the story and its universal themes.

Designed to appeal to audiences aged four and up, the Australian season has been carefully scheduled to accommodate families, with school-holiday performances and affordable ticket pricing making live theatre an accessible option. While younger audience members are drawn in by the colourful characters and slapstick humour, older viewers will find plenty to enjoy in the show’s clever writing and emotional depth.

As the production prepares to tour New South Wales, Shrek The Musical promises to deliver an experience that is as entertaining as it is uplifting. Combining world-class production values with a story that champions authenticity and inclusion, the musical invites audiences to laugh, reflect, and celebrate difference.

With its blend of humour, spectacle and heart, Shrek The Musical continues to prove that fairytales don’t need perfection to create magic — just honesty, courage and a willingness to be yourself.

Shrek The Musical tours Australia from December 2025. Tickets start from $50 per person. Further details are available at www.shrekmusical.com.au.
